Chain Conveyor

Industrial Chain Conveyors for Safe and Continuous Load Transfer

Chain conveyors are industrial transfer systems used to move pallets, crates, containers, dies and heavy components between production, storage and dispatch areas. Their high load capacity, durable drive structure and automation compatibility provide reliable material flow in heavy-duty applications.

Each system is engineered specifically according to load weight, base geometry, chain contact points, line width, conveying speed, operating environment and process scenario.

What Is a Chain Conveyor?

A chain conveyor is a mechanical transfer system that moves loads along a horizontal or controlled inclined line using one or more carrying chains.

Depending on project requirements, the system may include:

  • Steel supporting frame
  • Double, triple or multiple chain lines
  • Chain guide rails
  • Sprocket and shaft groups
  • Bearings and bearing housings
  • Motor and gearbox group
  • Mechanical or automatic tensioning system
  • Sensors and stops
  • Safety guards
  • Adjustable feet and anchoring elements

Advantages of Chain Conveyors

Move Heavy Loads Safely

Allow pallets, steel crates, dies and heavy components to progress along a defined route.

Organize Production Flow

Create continuous and balanced movement between stations and help reduce waiting and irregular feeding.

Provide High Torque and Durability

Chains, sprockets and drive groups can be sized for heavy loads and intensive working conditions.

Support Automation Integration

Can be integrated with sensors, stops, accumulation, direction changes and vertical transfer modules.

Facilitate Maintenance Access

Can be designed for easy access to chains, guides, sprockets, bearings and tensioning components.

Offer a Modular and Expandable Structure

The system can be extended, reinforced or rearranged when layout, load type or capacity changes.

Types of Chain Conveyors

Double-Chain Conveyors

Common systems in which pallets and transport crates move on two parallel chain lines.

Triple- and Four-Chain Conveyors

Developed for wide, heavy or multi-contact-point loads.

Pallet Chain Conveyors

Used to move standard or custom pallets between production, storage and dispatch points.

Heavy-Duty Chain Conveyors

Manufactured with reinforced frames, chains and drive groups for high-tonnage dies, metal parts and heavy equipment.

Accumulation Chain Conveyors

Allow loads to wait in controlled zones and advance according to process requirements.

Custom Transfer Chain Conveyors

Developed for vertical transfer, direction changes, centering, stopping and automated feeding.

Key Design Considerations

  • Load dimensions and maximum weight
  • Base width and chain contact points
  • Chain type, pitch and number of lines
  • Chain-guide material
  • Line width and total length
  • Conveying capacity and accumulation load
  • Motor and gearbox power
  • Tensioning system
  • Entry, exit and transfer elevations
  • Sensor, stop and routing requirements
  • Maintenance and lubrication access
  • Corrosion and operating environment

Application Areas

  • Automotive and supplier industries
  • Metalworking facilities
  • Pallet and crate transfer lines
  • Press and die handling systems
  • Food and packaging production
  • Plastics and rubber industries
  • Warehouses and logistics centers
  • Robotics and automation lines
  • Energy and heavy industry
  • Custom production and process lines

Our Production Process

Each project is evaluated individually according to load characteristics, process flow and site conditions.

1. Technical Assessment and Requirements Analysis

Load dimensions, total weight, base structure, conveying direction, line speed, cycle time and site conditions are evaluated.

2. System Design

Line geometry, frame sections, chain type and quantity, guides, drive group, tensioning system, stops and automation points are determined.

3. Manufacturing

Steel profiles, sheet metal, chains, sprockets, shafts, bearings and connection components are cut, machined and assembled according to project dimensions.

4. Surface Treatment and Inspection

Electrostatic powder coating, wet paint, galvanizing or protective coating is applied. Dimensions, welds, chain lines and drive connections are inspected.

5. Testing and Functional Inspection

Chain movement, tensioning, speed, direction, sensors, stops, accumulation and load passage are tested under controlled conditions.

6. Shipment, Installation and Commissioning

The system is delivered, aligned, leveled and anchored; mechanical-electrical connections and trial operation are completed.

Chain Conveyor Modification and Capacity Increase

Existing chain conveyors may develop chain elongation, sprocket wear, guide deformation, bearing failures, frame damage or tensioning problems. Changes in load tonnage, line speed or process layout may also require system modification.

Following a technical inspection, the following works may be carried out:

  • Chain, sprocket, shaft and bearing replacement
  • Guide and tensioning-system renewal
  • Frame and support reinforcement
  • Line extension or shortening
  • Motor and gearbox modification
  • Increasing the number of chain lines
  • Sensor and automation integration
  • Protective-guard renewal
  • Surface-coating renewal

Material and Surface Options

Material and surface treatment are selected according to load capacity, friction conditions, hygiene requirements and operating environment.

Carbon-Steel Profiles

Form the main supporting frame of the conveyor. Sections are selected according to load, span and line geometry.

Industrial Conveyor Chains

Selected according to load capacity, chain pitch, speed and operating intensity.

Chain Guides

Can be selected from steel or special engineering materials according to wear, friction and operating temperature.

Stainless Steel

Can be considered for food, chemical, wash-down and highly corrosive applications.

Electrostatic Powder Coating

Provides a durable surface suitable for indoor use and corporate colors.

Galvanizing and Industrial Coatings

Provide long-term protection in humid, outdoor or corrosive environments.

Why Nevas Çelik?

Projects are not limited to standard chain-conveyor dimensions; they are prepared according to load geometry, total tonnage, chain contact points, line speed and automation scenario.

Site survey, design, steel fabrication, chain and drive-system installation, surface treatment, site installation and commissioning are managed within a single process. Maintenance, modification and capacity-increase work can also be carried out on existing lines.
